In May of 2011, Escape Plan performed on the main stage of the Midi Music Festival. In May of 2010, Escape Plan performed as the opening band for the Strawberry Music Festival. In August, it performed at the Great Wall Music Festival hosted by Modern Sky, Qipanshan Music Festival in Shenyang and Jinshatan Music Festival in Qingdao.įrom October to December, it was invited by the British brand Lee Cooper and the Italian brand Lotto to perform at their new product release events and the New Year celebration events. The group quit the final round of the contest because of its differences in artistic views. ![]() In 2009,Escape Plan came in among the top three finalists in the National Rock Music Contest sponsored by Pepsi. On November 1, it staged its debut concert amidst enormous excitement during which its debut MV was shown to the audience. In October, the group performed during the Midi Festival. On August 8, the group published its first EP, Take me Away, which fetched impressive sales. The single Let’s Get Married in 2008 was designated as the theme song for China's largest rock music festival, Midi Festival and received wide accolades. In 2008,Escape Plan made a number of successes. The group’s lead vocal is known for his passionate and overwhelming voice, which in perfect harmony with the band’s jolly and lyrical tunes, ignites fervor with its fluid performance and zealous improvisation. Young and enthusiastic, the band sings in beautiful and poignant melodies, dosed with an air of modernity and enormous passion and vitality. The style of Escape Plan’s music has evolved significantly over the years, from the previous British pop to primarily indie pop, with a hybrid of electronic, new wave and post-funk elements. Since then, it has been signed to Beauty Life, a music production company in Beijing. ![]() Originally known as the Peacock Band (kongque yuedui), the band was later reorganized and renamed the Escape Plan in 2007. Their musical influences and idols are clearly evident in this perfectly constructed track – mainly reminiscent of Patton or Reznor. The Escape Plan is a Chinese rock band formed in 2005. The album closer, ‘I Wouldn’t If You Didn’t’ showcases where the band has been and where they are now. My main criticism however, is mainly that this album seems to be made up of cool parts and small gimmicks, instead of songs that are able to stand out on their own two feet.īut for Dillinger fans, that alienating intricacy is a bug, not a feature, and the fact that it can be almost impossible to remember how any given song on this album begins when it's over should be taken as a testament to the bands ability to perform these musical stunts. Ironically, however, both songs are placed around the ballad featured. The perfect example of this is the track, ‘Widower’ which holds the element of surprise on this album- a 6-something minute long piano driven ballad that is incredibly beautiful, even more so as the drummer starts slowly building to an inevitable hardcore outburst towards the 4-minute mark.įor the most aggressive of Dillinger fans, ‘Endless Ending’" and ‘Room Full of Eyes’ will fit them nicely. The single, and first track, is a picture perfect representation of what to expect (and not expect) on the band's new release. “Vocalist Greg Puciato has developed into quite the crooner, and even his shouting recalls Guy Picciotto more than Cookie Monster, when he's not borrowing Mike Patton's sneer.” ![]() Greg’s vocals have improved in a way that I can’t really begin to explain it, so I’ll let this quote give it a go: However, the band do begin abandoning some of the electronic elements found on later albums, but still retaining small quantities of melodic vocals. ![]() In some ways, it’s almost a return to the shouty, convulsive post-hardcore elements featured on their debut album ‘Calculating Infinity’. I don’t hesitate in saying that there haven’t been any major stylistic changes, or improvements, on this new release.
